Welcome to the Now and Forever Love blog! We’re happy to have you here because we have a fun wedding fact for you wedding lovers out there.
Do you know the phrase, “Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, (A Sixpence in your Shoe)”? It’s an old English tale that’s been associated with weddings for years, but not many people know its origin.
These are meant to be tokens or charms that the bride carries with her on her wedding day. The Bride’s mother, sister, or bridesmaids are usually the ones to gift her with these items. Something old can be a part of a mother’s or grandmother’s wedding dress; something new can be the wedding dress; something borrowed can be earrings; something blue can be a blue ribbon on the bridal bouquet.
Here are our favorite examples of “Something Olde, Something New” that we want to share with you to inspire you if you wanted to adopt this fun tradition.
